Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it, and we say so. A changed fact, number, name, date or attribution always gets a correction note on the story and an entry here. A fixed typo does not.
If you think we have made an error, write to [email protected] with the story and what you believe is wrong. We read every message, and we would rather hear it from you first.
How a correction is published
- We verify the claim against the original source, or a later primary source that supersedes it.
- We update the story body and add a dated correction note on the story itself.
- We add a matching entry on this page so the change is visible without opening every story.
- We do not quietly rewrite history: the wrong version stays visible in the correction note.
Typos, broken links and formatting fixes are repaired without a public note. A wrong name, number, date, title, attribution or quoted claim always gets one.
